Must dos in Siem Reap

Visiting Siem Reap and the nearby Angkor temples is a must to everyone who is traveling to Cambodia. But given one day, what are some exciting must dos in Siem Reap?
Get up early and go on an exciting biking expedition to the Angkor Archaeological Park which is 15 minutes away from the city. You will be able to witness glorious sunrise over the Angkor Wat, the largest religious building in the world. After having breakfast, visit this iconic temple and ready to be inspired by the vast size of it.
Sunrise at Angkor Wat
After Angkor Wat, the next challenge is exploring the ancient cities of Angkor Thom, the last capital city of the Khmer Empire. This expedition takes a whole day. Meandering along the bumpy and dusty trail of Angkor Thom, you will enter some quaint temples which are invaded by tropical jungles. Bayon Temple stands out with over 100 stone towers carved with mysterious smiling faces on 4 sides. Outside Angkor Thom, head for the famous Ta Prohm Temple, site for the movie Tomb Raider by Angelina Jolie. At the end of the day, your last stop is Srah Srang, where you will be relishing every bit of a refreshing drink while watching the sun slowly descending into the distant horizon.
Ta Prohm Temple
Phare Circus is a popular venue for evening activities in Siem Reap, if not a must do. Content of the plays at Phare Circus are often the story of local children being suffered under the brutality of the notorious Khmer Rouge. A series of acrobatic techniques combined with visual arts and traditional music will give you a sensational night and a sense of hope that the people of Cambodia will overcome the dark days in the past.

The evening goes on with a fantastic dinner at the Touich Restaurant. Trying the “Khmer Rouge Curry” here is highly recommended. Rounding the day with a stroll through Pub Street, a hectic Western-designated corner filled with chic bars and restaurants.
