The peaceful Tonle Sap Lake

If you take a boat trip to Tonle Sap at the different time of the year, you will notice the big changes in size in each season. On the wet season, the abundance of water creates a magnificent view of the great lake, while in the dry season, some parts of the lakes are even unapproachable by boat. The lake has dwindled a lot in the dry season with only approximately 2,700 square kilometers and almost meter depth. It seems not a “great” lake anymore. However, once you visit the lake during the wet season, you will then understand the power of the waters. The Tonle Sap Lake now receives much more rain waters due to the reversed water flows from Tonle Sap River, which connects the lake with the River Mekong at Phnom Penh, in the southeast. It becomes a super big natural reservoir for floating life of thousands of Cambodian.
