1. Angkor Wat in Siem Reap means to 'City of Temples' or simply 'City Temple'.

2. There are two huge complexes of ancient temples in Southeast Asia, one at Bagan in Myanmar, the other at Angkor in Cambodia.

3. The temples of Angkor, built by the Khmer civilization between 802 and 1220 AD, represent one of humankind’s most astonishing architectural achievements. 

4. Most temples are oriented to the East while Angkor Wat is oriented to the West. It is undeniable that king Suryavarman planned for the temple to serve as his funerary temple.

10. The wall under the moat is almost 15 feet tall, 2,630 feet wide and 3,360 feet length. The wall covers the temples is just over 200 acres. The major tower of the temple is about 213 feet high.
